Brothers Bond, Have you had the pleasure?

I have been following Nikki Reed and Ian Somerhalder for years. I admire many things about their philanthropic and business endeavors. One in particular for me is their love and passion for regenerative agriculture.

I myself have had a passion from the time I was a little girl for that same thing, even though back then I did not know what it was called. From a young age I knew the Earth was sacred, it was my home and I wanted to protect and coexist with it in the most deep ways. My hands were always in the soil, my feet bare feeling the rhythm and pulse of our planet. Even when riding my horse I’d often be barefoot because it just felt natural. Naturally that wasn’t ok with my instructor but it felt good to my little 5 year old heart. No matter where I was I saw adventure in nature. I could look at a mountain trail and see a fairy lit path to a world of wonder to be in my friends back yard and see a garden waiting to happen! In particular for me my passion is in the health of the soil, water and air. Ian Somerhalder along with his co-star and friend Paul Wesley started a brand of bourbon that I have grown quite fond of. Brothers Bond was started in Ian’s kitchen with carefully selected mash’s and whiskeys to create a smooth and decadent blend that was exactly what the pair wanted when reminiscing about their acting days together. Bourbon was a favorite for both to share together both on and off set.

Naturally having big hearts and a consciousness for the earth they have created a brand that focuses not only on excellence in the glass but also on using grains for their mash’s that are grown using regenerative farming practices. This speaks volumes to me on many levels. So I decided to give it a try. The first restaurant that I came across it in was actually Hopdoddy Burger Bar. Their Brothers Bond old fashioned is quite delicious. The twist of orange is perfection, the amount of bitters is perfect. My only qualm was my love of a true luxardo maraschino cherry in my old fashions, sadly they use standard imitation maraschino cherries. I personally think the real deal would push their drink over the top!

My second experience at a restaurant was at Salt Grass steak house. They have chosen to share with their guests the experience of the Trailblazer. This name to me is super fitting for this restaurant as it’s iconic western theme and flair as well as it’s roots are well deserving of the thoughts of cattle with cowboys on horse back blazing a trail. The Trailblazer was a delightful mix of Brothers Bond Bourbon, Cointreau Orange Liqueur, lemon juice, honey and chipotle spice. The drink is refreshing and smooth with a lingering honey spice and lovely lightly orange accent. It compliments Brothers Bond incredibly well. I will be on the look out to share more dining experiences with you at establishments who have chosen to support Brothers Bond.
