Malibu Farms

One of my favorite things in life is coffee. Some argue that coffee simply isn’t good for you while others will tout its health benefits. The simple fact is that no matter what you believe coffee in moderation seems to love me and I share the mutual love that has grown into a deep bond between us.

Although caffeine is a stimulant, coffee is a comfort beverage for me. The earthy flavors work well to give my soul the grounded feeling it needs when it’s shaky or has had a rough go of it. The aroma, warmth and flavor smooth out all the wrinkles.

There is another reason I love coffee and that is due to the plethora of creative and amazing coffee houses that grace the world and bring ambiance that simply says… “Come be with me! For a moment, an hour, a day, eternity. We will share this together.”

When you find these spaces and experience their vibe a part of you grows somewhere deep inside knowing all is well in the world somewhere at all times. And this moment of peace is for you.

One of my favorite things to do is to find these places and experience them in new and familiar places alike! So it stands to reason while in Malibu this is something I would do.

Sweet sweet Malibu you did not disappoint in anyway whatsoever!

Malibu Farms Cafe on Malibu Pier is a must for anyone in it’s vicinity. Yes they are a full restaurant but I am here to talk about the coffee and dessert. They obtain their coffee from a local coffee roaster and have unique flavors for their lattes as well as some regular favorites. I chose to have a lavender latte on this round, it fit the day. I will tell you it did not disappoint at all! From the light touch of lavender to the sweet bird the barista artistically drew on top, it was absolutely perfect! For my pallet I prefer a balance of flavor, many drink creators will overwhelm a drink with one thing or another. This often means you’re tasting nothing but sugar and over sweetness in a latte and for me that’s the quickest way to kill the drink. This was well balanced and perfectly crafted. The lavender gave the olfactory senses the exact note of earthy calmness as it whispered in the breath out after you sipped, while the coffee led with a mild sweetness while perfectly frothed coconut milk graced the tongue to let the entirety of the senses bring deep peace like the gentle waves that were rolling onto the shore as I sat drinking it.

The view from Malibu Farms is as lovely as the lavender fields that produced the essence that now graced my senses. As I felt the warmth and calm of the hot beverage I looked out over the beautiful ocean and smelled the fresh sea air. The vibrance of what was around me filled my heart and soul with a deep entrancing warmth that even the chill of the air that day could not penetrate. The colors of the ocean paired with the blues of the sky and rich deep gemstone like greens of the grasses and trees paired with the toffee and almond colored sands melted away any stress I could have been feeling that day.

I will be back, this restaurant and it’s coffee have a part of my heart that will keep returning! Thank you Malibu Farms for the joy of the beverages and desserts you provided as well as your scrumptious food! (More on those soon! This article is all about the sacred bean we call Coffee.)
